Corona was being properly rusted in Taiwan and the infection was controlled. But 207 new corona cases were reported in Taiwan on Sunday.
Taiwan is once again seeing an increase in Coronavirus cases, due to which the government has imposed the most stringent restrictions so far (Covid-19 Restrictions). Authorities have closed theaters and entertainment venues till May 28. Apart from this, five people in the indoor and 10 people are allowed to gather together. President Tsai Ing-wen has told the public not to panic and do large scale purchases of essentials.
So far in this island country Corona was being fought properly and the infection was controlled. But 207 new corona cases were reported in Taiwan on Sunday. After this, the authorities were forced to take tough measures. The thing to note here is that Taiwan has a population of 23 million. Since the onset of the epidemic, only 1,682 infection cases were reported here, while only 12 people died of corona.
Corona cases also increased in Singapore
It has a big role in the tough action taken by Taiwan in successfully fighting Corona. This insular country implemented strict border controls at the beginning of Corona. In addition, the entry of foreigners into the country was banned and quarantine was made compulsory for Taiwanese citizens returning home. At the same time, seeing the increasing cases of corona in Singapore on Sunday itself, it was said that all schools, junior colleges and universities should start home-based studies from May 19. For the first time since September, the highest number of corona cases were reported in Singapore, with 38 cases on Sunday.
What are the new restrictions implemented in Taiwan?
The government said that people will inevitably have to apply masks on exit. It also urged people to study and work from their homes. The capital Taipei has emerged as a hotspot of infection. Due to this, city officials have issued an alert for Level 3. Let me tell you that there are four levels to deal with Kovid-19 in Taiwan. Level 3 is like a small lockdown. The announcement of the sanctions seems quite unexpected, since Taiwan had not implemented such restrictions since the beginning of Corona.
